- Disaster Service Overview
Disaster Services fulfills the American Red Cross Mission by reducing human suffering and helping people prevent, prepare for and recover from natural and other disasters.
- Become a DAT Member
Disaster Action Teams are groups of chapter-trained volunteers who respond to disasters and help meet the immediate disaster-related needs of San Luis Obispo County residents.
- Disaster Response Training
Disaster Training courses include Introduction to Disaster Services, Mass Care: An Overview, Shelter Operations, Shelter Simulation, Client Casework: Providing Emergency Assistance, Fundamentals of Disaster Assessment, Logistics: an Overview, Logistics Simulation and ERV: Ready Set, Roll. Please contact the chapter for information on upcoming classes.
- Community Disaster Preparedness Presentations
Knowledgeable and experienced speakers are available to teach your community group about American Red Cross services and how you can become prepared for a disaster.
- The Disaster Action Team at Work
Disaster Action Team members are available and ready to respond to disasters within our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Learn how they have provided immediate emergency assistance to victims of disasters in San Luis Obispo County.
- Medical Reserve Corp
The Medical Reserve Corp (formerly the Medical Volunteer Program) brings together local health professionals and others with relevant health-related skills to volunteer in their community. These volunteers will assist the local, existing community emergency medical response system, as well as provide a group of readily trained and available resources to help the community manage pressing public health needs, improvements and education.
